The agreement covering SmoothCapture for iPhone and iPad, including Pro subscriptions bought through the App Store.
Effective 27 July 2026
Looking for the macOS terms? These Terms of Use are a legal agreement between you and SmoothCapture ("we", "us") covering the SmoothCapture app for iPhone and iPad and its Share Extension. By downloading or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. The macOS version of SmoothCapture is a separate product under separate terms.
SmoothCapture for iOS is an editing app. You bring your own video or photo, typically a screen recording, and the app frames it, adds backgrounds, 3D device frames, zoom and camera motion, then exports a finished video. It does not record your screen, and all editing and export happen on your device.
Importing, editing and previewing are free and unlimited. Exporting is also free, but a free export carries a small SmoothCapture watermark. SmoothCapture Pro removes that watermark. Nothing else is withheld behind Pro.
Pro is available as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.
Purchases are tied to the Apple Account that made them. Use Restore Purchases in Settings to re-activate Pro on another device signed in to the same Apple Account.
All iOS purchases are made through Apple, so Apple, not us, handles refunds, and they are granted under Apple’s policy at Apple’s discretion. Request one through Apple’s "Report a Problem" page or your purchase history. We cannot issue, force or promise a refund for an App Store transaction. If something is broken, please write to us anyway; we would rather fix it.
You keep every right in the videos, photos and projects you bring to or make with SmoothCapture. We claim no ownership or licence over them, and because everything is processed on your device, we never receive them in the first place. You are responsible for having the right to use the footage you import.
The app ships with a small library of background music by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. That licence lets you use the tracks commercially, including in videos you sell, but it requires credit. If you publish a video that uses a bundled track, you must credit the artist and the licence.
The exact credit line for each track is listed in the app under Add Music. Attribution is your responsibility as the publisher of the video, not ours.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SmoothCapture on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service Usage Rules. You may use it for personal and commercial work, and you may sell the videos you make with it. You may not:
We may update the app to fix problems, add features or keep pace with iOS. We may also change these terms; if we do, we will update this page and the effective date above, and continued use after a change means you accept it. We may discontinue the app, though we will give reasonable notice where we can. A Lifetime purchase covers the app as it exists and its future updates while we continue to publish it; it is not a guarantee of perpetual service.
These terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its contents. The following applies as required by the App Store:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING YOUR OWN BACKUPS OF ANY FOOTAGE THAT MATTERS TO YOU.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, INCLUDING YOUR STATUTORY CONSUMER RIGHTS.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we are established, without regard to conflict of law principles, and without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
