Privacy Policy

SmoothCapture for iPhone and iPad has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your footage is edited and exported entirely on your device.

The short version

SmoothCapture for iOS has no accounts and no sign-in. Your videos, photos and projects are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and we cannot see what you make.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the SmoothCapture app for iPhone and iPad, distributed on the App Store, and to its Share Extension. The macOS version of SmoothCapture is a separate product with a separate privacy policy, because it uses a different purchase system and collects different information.

What stays on your device

Everything you create. Imported videos and photos, projects, timelines, backgrounds, device frames, exported files and saved settings are stored in the app’s own storage on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party. Rendering and export run locally using your device’s graphics hardware, so your footage never leaves the device as part of editing or exporting.

If you delete a project in the app, its media is deleted with it. Deleting the app removes all remaining projects and settings.

Information we do not collect

To be specific, the iOS app does not collect any of the following:

  • Your name, email address or any account credentials: there is no account to create
  • Your videos, photos, projects or exported files
  • Analytics, usage statistics, session recordings or behavioural data
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we do not track you across apps or websites
  • Contacts, location, microphone, camera or health data
  • Crash reports collected by us: we ship no third-party crash-reporting SDK

Device permissions we ask for

Photo library (read)

  • Requested only when you choose to import a video or photo, so the app can read the item you picked
  • You may grant access to selected items only; the app never browses your library on its own

Photo library (add)

  • Requested only when you tap Save to Photos, so the finished export can be written to your library

Share sheet

  • When you share a video or photo into SmoothCapture from another app, that file is copied into a private storage area shared between the app and its extension, then turned into a project
  • This handoff is local to your device

You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security.

Purchases

SmoothCapture Pro is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple processes the transaction and shares only the outcome. We use RevenueCat, a subscription infrastructure provider, to validate the purchase and tell the app whether Pro is active.

What RevenueCat receives

  • A randomly generated anonymous identifier for your installation, which is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account
  • The App Store transaction and receipt data needed to verify and restore your purchase
  • Basic device and app information such as iOS version, app version and country, used to process the receipt

We do not send RevenueCat your name, your email address, or anything about the videos you make. The app also stores a single flag on your device recording whether Pro is active, so it keeps working offline.

If you email us

If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message, and we keep that correspondence only as long as needed to help you and to keep a record of the issue. We do not add you to a mailing list without your asking.

Children

SmoothCapture is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app has no accounts and collects no personal data, there is in practice nothing for a child to submit to us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. In our case the practical answer is usually short: we hold no personal data about you beyond any support email you have sent us. To ask about that, or to have it deleted, write to us and we will action it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the iOS app handles data, we will update this page and move the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them.
